Holiday Mocktails utilizing a Kentukcy classic, Ale-8-One.

Mocktails recipes you are sure to love during the holidays!

The holidays can be a challenging time for many reasons. For those who don’t imbibe, it can be an awkward time of the year. From spending time with family relatives to all of those ugly Christmas sweater parties. This year, we teamed up with Ale-8-One to help provide you with more options as you celebrate the holidays.

Founded in 1902 by G.L. Wainscott in Winchester, Kentucky, Ale-8-One remains the oldest, privately held bottler in the United States still owned and operated by the founding family. It remains the only soft drink invented in Kentucky that is still existence.

Developed during Prohibition, Ale-8-One got its name in a contest at the 1926 Clark County Fair where the winning  name was “A Late One,” slang for the “latest thing.”

Today, Ale-8-One currently offers two flavors, the original recipe from 1926 and their latest flavor, Cherry!

To help with all of your holiday parties, events, and family functions, we developed three delicious mocktail recipes utilizing both the original recipe and the all new cherry inspired Ale-8-One.

Mocktail One – Ginger and Juice

A batched recipe for all of your holiday needs.


  • 32 ounces apple juice

  • 32 ounces white grape juice

  • 32 ounces pear juice

  • 8 ounces Jack Rudy Elderflower Tonic

  • 8 ounces demerara simple syrup

  • 1 cup chopped apples

  • 1 cup chopped strawberries



12 pack of the original Ale-8-One

Bourbon Barrel Foods Bourbon Smoked Sugar, for garnish.

Serving Size: 25-30 guest


To Prepare:

Add chopped apples, strawberries, lemon and limes into a large pitcher or pot. Stir in apple juice, white grape juice, pear juice, elderflower tonic and simple syrup.

To serve:

Fill 8oz rocks glass with ice and add 4 oz fruit mixture and top off with 3oz  of ice-cold Ale-8, a Kentucky classic sure to be a hit at any holiday party. Garnish with apple and strawberry slice’s (coat rocks rim with bourbon sugar)

Optional: Utilize Bourbon Barrel Foods Bourbon Smoked Sugar as a garnish on your rim.

Mocktail Two -

“All Things Nice & Spiced.”

  • 2 cups demerara sugar

  • 1 cups water

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped

  • 1 cup fresh pears, chopped

  • 4 cinnamon sticks (based on personal taste preference) 

  • Table Spoon of cayenne pepper

  •  Fresh lemon juice

6 pack of Ale-8-One

Serving Size: About 4 Mocktails.

To Prepare:

Add water and all ingredients (excluding Ale-8 and lemon juice) to a saucepan and heat over medium until the sugar has dissolved, about 2-3 mins. Reduce heat to low and cook for about 20-25 minutes, or until the syrup has thickened. Strain, discarding the cinnamon sticks and cayenne pepper.


To Serve:

In a cocktail shaker add 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 2 ounces of spiced pear & strawberry simple syrup, and ice.

Shake and strain into an 8 ounce rocks glass filled with ice. Top off with four ounces of ice-cold Ale-8-One. Garnish with a dusting of freshly-grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.

Optional: Try using Bourbon Barrel Foods Bourbon Smoked Sugar as a garnish on your rim. You will love it, trust us!


Mocktail Three-

“Rudolf’s Spiced Treat,” Featuring Cherry Ale-8-One.

  • 1 quart pear juice

  • 4 cinnamon sticks or 3 tablespoons mulling spices

  • 1 vanilla bean pod

  • Cherry Ale-8-One

  • Lemon wheel and cinnamon stick for garnishments.

6 Pack of Cherry Ale-8-One

Estimated serving size 8-10 guest

 To Prepare:

Add all ingredients (excluding Cherry Ale-8-One and lemon wheel) to a medium-sized saucepan. Bring to a simmer for about 8 to 12 minutes. Let cool.


To Serve:

Add 3 ounces of spiced vanilla pear juice into an 8 ounce rocks glass filled with crushed ice and top off with 4 ounces of ice-cold Cherry Ale-8-One.

To Serve this mocktail recipe HOT, reduce heat of spiced vanilla pear juice to low. Strain 3 ounces directly into mug and add four ounces of room temperature Cherry Ale-8-One into mug.

Garnish both mocktail options with a fresh lemon wheel and add cinnamon stick.


For the more daring ones:

Add a jigger of your favorite Kentucky bourbon per serving size. TMP, respecting your choice to be with or without alcohol.
