Pumpkin Spice and All Things Nice, Crafting Mocktails with Ale-8-One.

Hey friends.

Well, and just like that, Summer is officially over and everything will soon turn into pumpkin spice.

Today, I had fun creating Four Original Mocktail Recipes featuring one key flavor (Pumpkin) and combing each recipe with a Kentucky Classic, Ale-8-One.

For me, many traditions comes to mind once the leaves start to turn here in the Bluegrass. Friday night lights, the start of basketball season, Saturday’s spent standing along the rail at Keeneland Race Track.

As summer comes to an end each year, it’s the Red River Gorge that truly starts to come to life here in the Bluegrass State.. Each year, thousands of world renown rock climbers flock to Red River Gorge for multiple days of rock climbing & other outdoor activities at RocktoberFest.

With the change in weather, so too does our landscape. Each year, the crisp air turns the Appalachians into a sea of color and so too does the flavor’s profile of the drinks’ we consume.

Hello Autumn

  • 4oz Ale-8-One

  • 1/2 oz Old Forester Oleo-Saccharum Syrup (If you can’t locate this ingredient, substitute in fresh lemon juice.)

  • 2oz RE’AL Pumpkin Puree

  • Garnish: Fresh Cinnamon Stick.

Hello Autumn is the first of four zero-proof recipes. Fall forward of flavor, this recipe is very approachable and full of those fall flavors we all love. Spice, Pumpkin, and Ale-8-One, a Kentucky-made ginger soda.

Pumpkin Spice and All Things Nice.

  • 4oz Ale-8-One

  • 2oz RE’AL Pumpkin Puree

  • 1oz Cinnamon Simple Syrup

  • 1/2oz Fresh Lemon Juice

  • Garnish: Apple Slice

The second recipe I created today is a cinnamon loves dream. Cinnamon infused simple syrup is combined with RE’AL Pumpkin Puree to provide a cinnamon forward fall mocktail that ALL cinnamon lovers will enjoy. To create your cinnamon simple syrup simply add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of demerara sugar into a sauce pan, place on low heat, and let steep with 5 cinnamon sticks until all sugar is dissolved. I typically let my cinnamon sticks steep for an additional 30 mins on low heat for added flavor.

Pumpkin Spice Has Me Nutty

  • 4oz Ale-8-One

  • 1 1/2 oz RE’AL Pumpkin Puree

  • 1 oz Orgeat Syrup

  • 1/2oz Fresh Lemon Juice

  • Garnish: Apple Slice

If you love almonds and combination of Fall flavors such as pumpkin and all spice, this is the mocktail for you! Orgeat syrup is a sweet syrup made from almonds, sugar, and rose water or orange flower water. It was originally made with a barley-almond blend. The combination of nutty almonds, pumpkin puree, and Ale-8-One ( citrus-flavored soft drink ) makes for the perfect combination of flavors sure to be a fall favorite. For those more adventures, combine 1 1/2oz of Kentucky Bourbon.

Keep Calm, Get Your Pumpkin On

  • 4oz Ale-8-One

  • 2oz RE’AL Pumpkin Puree

  • 2oz Caramel and Vanilla infused Ale-8-One Simple Syrup

  • 1/2oz Fresh Lemon Juice

  • Garnish: Cinnamon Stick

Confession Time! I may have just made my new favorite fall mocktail. For me, growing up in Kentucky meant family meals, watching my mother cook, family get togethers. If one thing is a certainty, watching my mother cook also meant experimenting wasn’t just allowed in the kitchen, it was encouraged.

Key ingredient ~ Caramel and Vanilla infused Ale-8-One Simple Syrup

Instructions: In your sauce pan of choice add 1 can (12oz) of Ale-8-One. This will be the base of your simple syrup. Rather than utilizing water, I wanted to experiment with substituting in Ale-8-One for this recipe and I can’t tell you how happy I was with the final outcome. Before bringing to a simmer, add Five Kraft Caramel Candies and One Vanilla Bean. I let this cook down for about 30 minutes until all ingredients had infused together. Remember, KEEP STIRIING. Caramel is sticky!

I sourced all of my ingredients for this recipe at my local Krogers.

I love Fall Y ’all, I really do. I also love all the amazing things from this wonderful state I call home. Ale-8-One, of Winchester, is a benefaction to the Commonwealth — and for that, I give gratitude and pay homage.
